"That was probably our biggest loss last year," said centre Craig Conroy. "I know everyone was focused on losing Regehr, losing different guys but when we lost Mark Giordano — I think he’s that good.
"Giordano is key to me. He moves the puck well. He skates well. He’s in great shape and he thinks the game well. As a forward, you like to be out there on the ice when he’s out there because he makes it easier for you. This year, I’m looking forward to him having a huge season."
The Giordano Fan Club is apparently a bit bigger than I thought.

I’m not totally surprised at Conroy’s comments. Players normally know who can do what, and I’m also pretty sure that Darryl Sutter wishes he’d taken a different tack with Giordano in the summer of ‘07. If Anton Stralman or anyone else beats him out, it’ll be based on quality play, because Mark Giordano’s pretty damned good for what he gets paid.
i also posted this over at the mark giordano #1 fansite (aka: hitthepost) today…. and you can be sure i will refer to this quote numerous times over the next year(s).
:)
At the very least, and I’m not saying I disagree with Connie, but it’s a good little vote of confidence for Gio. Sometimes coming back from injury can be a tough lot and with Gio’s upsides we want him to get going good and quickly. Sometimes with all the talking, I think the old vet has a few wily tricks too boot.
Holy, colloquialisms Batman…. oh well, whatever. I gotta stop re-reading posts.
D for 3 and now goal for 21 years, of course I'm a goaltender apologist.
