Bertuzzi makes too many mistakes and takes too many penalties to justify a roster spot unless he produces offence and he doesn’t produce enough offence any more, even with 18 minutes of quality ice time. While the mistakes and penalties will decline with the ice time, they will not decline as much as the scoring will fall off. I thought Bertuzzi was a net liability last year in Calgary and I think he will be a bigger liability in Detroit next year.
