Oilers blogger Scott Reynolds goes over the Flames from top to bottom. Can't say I disagree with a word of it. Bouwmeester and Calgary's budget issues are looked at in detail.

Seems to be fairly in-depth

And it seems to be fairly balanced.

Scott’s a great blogger and his viewpoint is fair considering that I don’t recall that he was ever on the “Bouwmeester to Oilers” train.

But.

If you went to Lowetide pre-draft weekend, the prevailing opinion was “get Bouwmeester to the Oilers”. I believe Lowetide himself was promoting this opinion, and he supports his hockey opinion with math and reason. The dissenting opinions were usually centered around concerns about the cap hit or the Oilers need for scoring forwards instead.

Now that the Flames have him this is the second piece from the Oilers bloggers downplaying Bouwmeester’s fundamental ability as a defenseman (the first being from JW on OilersNation I believe). Doesn’t make their analysis wrong per se but it does make me wonder.

I’d be doing the same thing had the opposite happened, not doubt. Fun of being a fan.
