Bouwmeester's contract has a NTC

According to Cap Geek. While Jay is a good bet to provide value given his age and performance thus far...I said the same thing when Miikka signed his deal. These things make me nervous.

how does this possibly come as a surprise to you ?? the guy was the #1 free agent this summer and could have commanded the same salary/term from almost any of the 30 teams out there…. there is no way he would have signed a deal without a NTC…. i would actually presume it to be a NMC.

Don’t get me wrong, on balance Im still glad we signed Bouwmeester. This just takes a tad of the excitement out of it.

To be expected. The ability to control one’s destiny in a limited fashion is basically the only incentive a player can get anymore, and the top players will expect them.

Agreed. Also, it doesn’t mean he can’t be traded (and I know you know this) he just doesn’t want to end up being dumped in Florida again. Call me stupid, but I don’t think Sutter would have even flinched on the request for a NMC, in fact he probably assumed it.
