Flames Sign Kronwall

...Unfortunately, it's not the good one. Steffan Kronwall was a former 9th rounder by the Leafs who has appeared in 55 NHL games and managed a single assist. His 9 goals and 34 points in the AHL last year are decent however and he should make for a solid, veteran compliment to all the kids in Abbotsford.

i was initially concerned about gio’s position in the top six but now i see that kronwall is probably more of an abbotsford type, to provide a bit of quasi veteran presence for negrin, aulie, and pelech.

Finally showing some love for the Euros now, and trying to build the Farm up good and that’s what a successful franchise does they have a good farmteam.

I’m liking what Sutter has done up to this point.

Abbotsford is getting a lot of love. I’m sure part of this is to benefit the Flames, but I suspect there’s a business factor too: the farm team is finally playing in a real hockey market, and they want to make a big splash.

yep. i totally agree… they want sellouts; therefore they need to put a good product on the ice…. i think they could feasibly be quite exciting, actually….

I’ve been wondering what the fans in Abbotsford will be like. Will the affiliation with Calgary bring anti-Heat fans to the games, or will people just come to watch good hockey?

Again, my sister lives in Abbotsford and I represent the Flames out here in Vancouver, always have and always will – no matter how many fights it gets me in. …so anyway, I’m looking forward to catching a number of games and keeping you guys posted.

Nice! Maybe you can furnish us with some first hand accounts of Backlund’s progress during the year…

i think people will support their new club, until the heat play the manitoba moose. then it’s gonna be chaos.
