The Calgary Flames have tendered qualifying offers to pending restricted free agents Dustin Boyd and Kris Chucko.
In 71 game last season, Boyd notched 11 goals and 21 points. A third-round pick of the Flames in 2004, the Winnipeg native is expected to play a bigger role next season with the pending departure of sniper Michael Cammalleri.
Boyd and Chucko return. Cracknell and Seitsonen do not.

Up to 660k, 110%. Between 660k and 1 million, 105%. Above 1 million, 100 percent. Boyd made 741k and Chucko was at 984K, so 105 % for both.

But Chucko’s can’t be for more than a million a year total, so really more like a 1 % bump max.

well, SOMEBODY’s got to hold down the fort in abbotsford….. ;)
i’m getting nervous about pardy.

He’s still eligible for a 2-way deal, because he didn’t play 180 NHL games the last 3 years, or at least 60 last year. Boyd gets a 1-way offer.

chuckles had a good year, and even i (who hates the dude) would say that it’s probably too early to entirely give up on him. not that i see him making the big club this year (or ever) but on a 2-way deal he could still possibly be a nystrom-like late bloomer.

i would actually presume, at this point, that pardy has opted to test free agency. much like bouwmeester, i’m not convinced that means he’ll go elsewhere, i just think that if either were planning to sign for what’s been offered, they’d both be under contract.

According to Dreger, the Flames will talk money with Bouwmeester today. As much as I might like to see this deal done, I agree with WI. He and Pardy should at least see what’s out there. When you’ve gone this far, why not go to the finish? I don’t think Sutter would tell them do it today or no deal, particularly with Bouwmeester.

agreed. i think sutter’s a hard-ass (read: the 2007 giordano affair) but i don’t think he’s an idiot. you don’t give up a draft pick for the rights to an elite player and then slam the door in his face after four days of negotiations. i don’t care who you are, you just dont….. he’ll sit by and watch while jaybouw sees what’s out there, and hope like hell he comes back at the end of the week…. as for pardy, well, who knows ?? i wouldn’t be surprised if darryl low-balled him, or if he wants to play closer to home (NY ? BOS ? TOR ?) or if he just wants to see how much dough he can get ? with guys like moss being signed well before the trade deadline, you have to wonder
a) how much time and effort daz has put into signing him &
b) how much of a discount the flames are looking for, out of a rookie defenseman vs. how much of a paycheque that d-man is seeking.
