Additionally, Ryan McGill, Dave Lowry and Jamie McLennan have been named as assistant coaches.

Brent joins the Calgary Flames after two seasons as the bench boss of the New Jersey Devils compiling a 97-56-11 (.625) record during the regular season, and an Atlantic Division title in 2008-09.

Question being… is Noodles a better goalie coach (for Kipper) than Marcoux?

by fortybillion on Jun 23, 2009 2:10 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

As much respect as Marcoux has, there is no doubt that he hasn’t gotten much at all out of our goaltending the last couple years. A new perspective would help.

Anyway, I welcome our new Sutter overlord. One thing there most definitely will be is accountability. This is one mean coaching staff.

I look forward to seeing Noodles’ influnces on McElhinney. He has a ton of experience both in watching games from the bench AND working the gate, and that has to pay off for the kid.

like i said over at hitthepost, i can honestly attest to how much harder i work when i’m surrounded by people i like. when my boss is a good laugh, as well as competant, i want to do so much more…. i could see kipper going back to having some fun this year, which could really result in better results (when you’re scared to eff up, you eff up more).

i guess we’ll see.

This is very true.

The problem being…I dont know if Kipper’s problem is lack of effort.

by Kent Wilson on Jun 23, 2009 7:41 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

i’m not talking effort, exactly. i’m talking fun, interest, and passion, as opposed to disgruntled, exhausted, “over it….” makes some sense to me anyways.

by walkinvisible on Jun 23, 2009 8:32 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

yeah, i just said “result in better results.” that’s embarassing….

Compensation

I doubt we’ll ever know, but I’m curious what sort of disgusting sexual favours Darryl has to perform on Lou the next time they’re in the same city. Compensation’s a bitch, yo.

Im sure we’ll see a curious trade down the road where the Flames give up mid-round-pick X for unknown and probably useless prospect Y.

With a Sutter as coach and a Sutter as GM

Flames will lead the league in lousy interviews.

Isn’t Brent a much better interview than Darryl?

Be hard to be worse

but was listening to one with Brett yesterday, and it sounded much like his brother.

I’m betting Jermaine Franklin is hoping that Brent likes him more than Darryl does.

I wonder if we can hire an assistant coach just to do interviews. Sort of like a colour man. Organizationally useless, but entertaining for the audience. What’s MacTavish doing these days?

by fortybillion on Jun 24, 2009 9:00 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

we seem to have all forgotten that noodles is now on the coaching staff, ie: funny/interesting interviews should be forthcoming. :)

by walkinvisible on Jun 24, 2009 9:25 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yes, excellent point.

I also love the idea of an “Assistant coach in charge of interviews” title. That would be hilarious, and MacT would be a perfect fit. :)

So begins the journey of the Calgary Sutters

Any more Sutters they could get involved with the team in some way?

Seriously though, this should be the make or break I am hoping for… that is, the Flames do well or a change occurs in the front office. Sounds like a win-win to me (since I am tired of the losing in the first round, and either one should be stepping forward to that goal).

Second Round???

Really Brent’s going to do that….. He couldn’t get in the second round of the playoffs two seasons straight. Even with a healthy rested Brodeur. He almost did but he put Colin White out and well I don’t want to talk about the ending…………

by LetsGoDevils on Jun 25, 2009 10:25 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

A healthy, rested brodeur who lost one game by trying to interfere with a player rather than stop the puck, and lost the deciding game on a softie.

Are you going to spoil your diaper on every forum SBN has?

As I said LGD

They either advance past round one or they flame out… either way, I get something I want (Flames advance or Daryl might finally get the boot).

The most exciting interview head coach in Brent Sutter. No but wait to see Miikka Kiprusoff playing in every game.
