The Calgary Herald has a nice little piece on this today. Conroy has had a quietly effective season in Calgary, so I guess he's a deserving enough candidate at 38 years old.
I would have chosen to nominate Jamie Lundmark, myself. Last season, Lundmark bounced around the AHL and European leagues and it looked like his hockey career was all but over. Instead of giving up, the former first-rounder signed with Calgary in the off-season to a relatively nominal AHL salary (increasing his chances of being re-called under the current waiver eligibility rules) and went on to lead the AHL Flames in scoring. His subsequent recall and success with the big club is pretty bloody impressive and makes for an inspirational narrative.
