Flames Claim Lawrence Nycholat

With Bertuzzi now out, one can almost guarantee that Nycholat isn’t the only player we pick up. I wonder if we grab any of the many forwards who appeared on the waiver wire today?

Satan would be a natural Bert replacement, assuming he’s available by the time the Flames get their turn. Morrison has always looked good against the Flames too, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Sutter is tempted to pick him up (even though he’s been pretty much horrible otherwise this year).

Nycholat was a really strong junior defenceman … much better than Brennan Evans, so I think he’s a bit above that. He’s got some skill, kind of a poor man’s Giordano, really. But based on what I’ve seen, I’d at least be comfortable putting him into an NHL game. Which wasn’t the case with good ol’ B.E. back in 04.

Well, that’s why he’s insurance against another Brennan Evans making an appearance.
