Around SBN: Missouri Survives Scare, Louisville And Marquette Roll

Salutations and Greetings

Welcome to Matchsticks and Gasoline, the new SBN arm featuring Calgary Flames tirades, talk and trade rumors (only e4 or higher!). And yes, I came up with the dreadfully clever site name.

I've been around for years in my own untidy corner of ye olde interweb, scapegoating certain players, elevating others, forever pretending I could do a better job than the current Flames management (which is the inalienable right of every fan, yes?). Most of my previous rants can be found here, although I've been contributing stuff here and there recently as well, so there's ample evidence of my eccentricities scattered to the virtual wind.

I've been blogging for years but this new-fangled gadgetry here at SBN is all still new to me, so hang in there as I find my feet around these parts. In the meantime, I'll try to at least get the content right (if not the lay-out) and I'll be bringing in some support from some of the other great Flames bloggers out there from time to time as well.

Onwards!

On the move!

You try to get away, Kent, but we keep finding you (yes, your link on FHF helped!). Now I have two blogs to follow on SB Nation.

Good to have you on board Kent.

Thanks folks.

Im just hoping I don’t screw things up to badly start off. The shiny new apps here at SBN are confusing my blogger-acclimated brain.

Welcome!

Just don’t take it over 60 mph — er, 100 km/h, for the first few thousand miles, and you’ll be fine.

Seriously, very glad you’re on board.

Good looking stuff, Kent. Welcome aboard!

Of course you have no outstanding opinions of Mike Keenan, right? Not that those of us in Florida, or Boston, or New York, St. Louis, etc, would care…

Congrats, dood!

Great to have you up and running Kent. Feel free to take the site for a test drive by trying some of the tools out.

That is a cool image for your header.

Well, as a Canucks blogger here at SBN, I think we’ll be butting heads quite a bit down the stretch (even though the Canucks and Lames don’t play eachother again until April 7)
Welcome! The Northwest Division representation here is almost complete!
Once you get the hang of the gadgets here you’ll love them. It took me over a week to get used to them and I still don’t have it all perfected yet. You’ll find the support team here very helpful, however.

Wow, people follow hockey in Canada? Learn something new every day, I guess.

Welcome, MG.

Certain parts of the country have a strong hockey following. The majority are CFL fans though.

Kent, wouldn’t a Brokeback Mountain logo-theme have been more appropriate for your team? It was filmed in Calgary, right? :)
Alright, I’ve give you some more time to let you settle in before I hack the Lames any further.

Aren’t the Flames 10 points up on the Canucks right now?

Oh, people can come up with statistics to prove anything. 14% of people know that.

Yay, a Flames blog!

Great to see more hockey blogs up and running on SBN!

Love the name, but with that I have a feeling you’re going to invite references to that episode of Beavis and Butt-Head where Beavis burns down a comedy club.

I don't need no instructions to know how to rock!

Welcome Kent

Glad to have you at SB Nation…wish you had been here back when the Sabres played in Calgary. Maybe next year because at least one us has no shot at the Cup this year.

Nice digs, Kent. Don’t take too much crap from Leaf or Canuck fans. You have evidence via color photography of the Flames winning a Stanley Cup.

Congratulations Kent

No doubt this’ll be one of SBN’s biggest hockey blogs in short order. You do good work.

Thanks Matt. Considering the bloggers they have on board here, I’d settle for “not the worst” I think.

but “matchsticks and gasoline” is cool too.
