Alex Tanguay a Healthy Scratch in Tampa

It's been quite the fall from grace for the former 80 point getter. He's had a mediocre start to the season thus far - should he still be target for a club like the Flames, or is the luster completely off his star?

Depends. How little will Tampa want? If they don’t want a roster player, it’s moot until the deadline because the Flames can’t cover his ticket right now. I wouldn’t break the bank for him, but if he’s not a better player than Eric Nystrom for the Flames’ top nine, I’d be surprised.

That’s a bad comparison though. You don’t waste the effort to bring Tanguay in to stand on the third line. You only bring him in if you think he can fill that LW role with Iggy and Jokinen. IMO, if Sutter doesn’t think Tanguay can be a first liner any more, he should just pass.

if the flames could pay less for him, it’d be a good way to shore up the top six if he has any return to form. Better option to, as it just popped up, Nystrom or Sjostrom filling in those gaps. Especially if Bourque seems to have continued problems staying healthy.

I’d have a hard time saying no, depending upon cost. I can’t remember what he signed for in Tampa…but I think he’d look great on our PP (we need someone with hands) and even with IggyOlli
